05.1 - Application
Continuous washdown, solids on the floor.
A line that runs all shift with water on the floor, product on the grating and a cleaning crew working around the equipment. Here the drainage is process equipment, not plumbing.
The floor conditions
- What lands on the floor: washdown water, product debris, packaging fragments, cleaning chemistry and hot water at shift change.
- Flow shape: near-continuous, spiking at washdown and at CIP discharge.
- Cleaning regime: shift by shift, often foam and rinse; chemistry varies by plant.
- Who inspects: the plant's own QA against HACCP-based procedures, plus retail audits.
How it fails
- A body with a folded seam: the seam is where the swab comes back positive.
- A grating the crew cannot lift alone - it stays down, and the trench under it becomes a reservoir.
- 316 quoted as a hygiene measure. It is a corrosion measure; geometry is what gets cleaned.
What we specify
- Run under the line - ProcessTrench 200, made to measure, heavy grating where a pallet truck crosses.
- Solids before the outlet - DebrisGuard TB in-line, basket sized to the volume between cleans.
- Access at the head of the discharge - AccessClean HD, so the run can be rodded without lifting a trench.
- Multi-line hall - one outlet per run, not one per hall.
What to send
- Layout with falls and outlet positions marked
- Pallet truck or racking loads, if any
- Cleaning chemistry and temperature
- Where the floor discharges to, and whether it is sampled
Structure only - not published
- Photographs from installed projects - none cleared for publication yet
- Two reference projects with permission to name the operator
- Which market's audit wording this page should answer to first (BRCGS / IFS / SQF)
