03 — Series / WASH
WASH — along a wall or a line
The channel is sized to the run, not the run to the channel. On a refit that usually means a shorter basket and a deeper body.
WASH — fixed parameters
Section
A channel that follows the wall at the wet end of the room, takes the water off the whole run, and gives the whole length a basket you can lift in one piece. Flow is spread over the length, so the outlet sees less at once than a point drain does.
How this series fails
- A basket made in sections that have to be lifted one by one — they get lifted once, then never.
- An outlet at the low end only, with the fall running the other way: the far end silts up.
- A slot grate over a wide body: the gap is what a squeegee pushes into, not out of.
What decides the size
- Run length and the fall available across it
- Solids: a slot grate is a decision about what you are willing to hand-pick
- Whether a pallet truck or racking crosses it — that decides the rail
- Who lifts the basket, and whether they can lift the full length alone
Structure only — not published
- Dimensions: length, width, depth, outlet position and build-up height — issued on the dimension sheet per project
- Load class for each grate variant, once tested
- Assembly photographs, once the shoot is done
- A worked example with a run length, a fall and an outlet, as a downloadable section
